An elegant residence

ACCESS STATEMENT FOR PENARWYN HOUSE Penarwyn House was built in the late 1800s as the main house on a 60 acre estate, and is full of period features and large rooms it has been worked on extensively by us to bring it up to its present luxurious standard, works have included complete re wiring, plumbing and central heating.

 

Help is always on hand for those wanting it, but due to the bedrooms being on the first floor and no lift, we are not suitable for wheelchairs.

 

Guests who require them, can have all details and menus in large print.

 

To save space in a long document the following applies to the whole of the house.  We have a full protection fire alarm and emergency lighting .we always assess at time of guests arrival whether they require help for any reason if the alarm is actuated.The house is fully centrally heated with extra electric heaters in the rooms.The house has free Wi Fi Broadband for those bringing laptops, or guests can keep in touch via ours if required.

 

To get to us

From the A390 at Doubletrees Road St Blazey turn into the Doubletrees school, Drive down past the school over 5 sets of road humps observing direction signs.

 

Enter through the gateposts, the grounds of Penarwyn House, a short drive brings you to our roundabout, drive around it and park at the front of the house facing the front garden.

 

There is room for three cars facing the wall and garden, none more than 15m from the front door. The surface is level Tarmac.

 

We will be happy to carry your luggage from the car to your room and give any assistance you require.

 

The front entrance has 2 low steps, step 1, 10cm riser 45cm going. Step 2, 7.5cm riser 40cm going, leading to,

 

Double doors opening to 1.3m wide, into the porch 2.1m x 2m

Stone tiled with 3 mats on non slip backing, inner doors 1.3m wide into lower hallway over a timber threshold.

 

Lower hallway

 11.6m to bottom of stairs 2.4wide, Oak parquet floor with 4rugs with non slip backing,  to the right of the stairs the hall continues a further 3.8m x 1m with a further 2 rugs with non slip backing. Furniture is placed on the right hand side of the hallway.

 

All rooms on this floor for guests use, are accessed from the hall through doorways 0.8m wide with timber thresholds, they are.

 

Dining room 4.1m x 4.1m with individual tables for each room and is carpeted with good quality well fitted carpet, furniture includes a dumb waiter and china cabinet.

 

Drawing room 3.5m x 5.2m containing a 3 piece suite, occasional tables and a Boudoir piano (not yet in tune) parquet floor with carpet in the centre of the room. 2 further doorways 1.1m wide with a timber threshold from this room lead to.

 

Glazed Veranda 1.9m x 5.4m stone tiled floor with 2 tables and 4 chairs, sliding doors from here lead to the front garden (2 steps down from the veranda to the front concrete path then down a further 2 steps to the front lawn, a large area with seating in arbours.

 

You can turn left along the path from the Veranda and walk past the snooker room to the Pergola, accessed from the path via a 15cm step to seating areas, the flooring is on various levels and consist of a paved area, a gravelled area and a timber decking area.

 

 The walk past the Pergola through the trees is on an uneven garden path so care must be exercised, then down steps of varying rise and going to the walled Victorian garden with fernery apple trees and veg garden.

 

Back in the house walk past the Drawing room and the foot of the stairs to the 
Snooker room 4.8m x 7.1m a ¾ size snooker table in the centre of the room with movable seating 2 alcoves containing books, games and puzzles there is a wood burner which can be lit when required for extra ambiance (for guests safety lit and tended only by Jan or Mike) .

 

The stairs 90cm wide 18cm riser 28cm going carpeted has 16 steps to the half landing, measuring 2.4m x 1.2 then another 5 steps to the top floor. 

 This floor contains all the bedrooms accessed from the top hallway size 2.4 wide x 14m long and is again fully carpeted. There are 2 chairs and 2 tables on the right hand side of the hallway with a stool under the far end hall window.

 

Prideaux (1st door LHS of hallway door 840cm wide,)

Room size, 4.8m x7.1m can be set up as either a twin bedded or a super king double, access to both sides of each bed even when set up as a twin. 

 Furnished with period double wardrobe, gents wardrobe, dressing table and stool, 2 bedside tables with lamps, occasional tables, standard lamp, 2 armchairs on easy gliders also a fridge and beverage facilities, writing bureau and chair, Lcd digital, TV and a DAB radio.   From the bedroom doorway into the

En-suite size 2m x 3.6m Floor vinyl with carpet contains W C, wash basin, a freestanding slipper bath and a chair, step up into quadrant shower

 

DeCressy suite  (1st door RHS of hall door 76cm wide) into an L shaped lounge overall size 5.6m x 4.6m less a section 3.5m x2.9m fully carpeted containing 2 x 2 seater sofas 2 occasional tables with lamps, a leather topped desk with swivel chair, fridge, beverage making facilities and an Lcd digital TV.

 

Through the lounge into Bedroom (door size 76cm) 4.15m x 5m into Oriel window carpeted up to the Oriel bay which has oak flooring. The bed can be as a super king size or as twin beds with access to each side of the bed even as a twin, furniture includes a double wardrobe, dressing table, bedside tables with lights, chaise longue Lcd digital TV and DAB radio. From the bedroom into the

En –Suite (door size 76cm)  4cm step down onto vinyl flooring and carpet, size 3.35m x 2.75m, free standing bath WC, washbasin and chair, step up into deluge shower,

 

Luxulyan  (3rd door RHS of hall door 84cm wide),

Room size 6m x 2.4m less the en-suite 2.4m x 1.2m our single room with a 0.9m wide bed access from one side the room also contains dressing table with stool (in an alcove outside of the measurements above) cane chair, writing desk, gents wardrobe (again in an alcove outside of the main room measurements) LCD digital TV, DAB radio and beverage making facilities.

En – suite size 2.4m x 1.2m vinyl flooring with WC and washbasin, step up into quadrant shower.

 

Treffry (6th door RHS of hall door 84cm wide), size 5m x 4.2m a king size bed with bedside drawers and lamps. Wardrobe with drawers,

2 armchairs, occasional table, fridge and beverage making facilities. Leading into

En-suite (door 80cm wide) L shaped, overall size 3.5m x 3.5m
